First off, Red Sox over Indians in game 7 of the ALCS… Sweet as!!! World Series here we come!! In other sporting news, the South Africa Springbok beat England in the Rugby World Cup over the weekend, though people here stopped caring since the All Blacks were eliminated. Hey, what is the difference between the All Blacks and a teabag? A teabag stays in the cup longer. Har har har. Auckland won the Air New Zealand cup as well over the weekend, though as I was watching it on TV, I didn’t get the impression that anyone cared about that either. The stadium was nearly empty. Sure, it was raining, but it was the finals. It seems like this country is simply Rugby’d out. Move aside tests, tries, scrums, and other weird rugby terms, time for cricket season to begin.

Anyway, we just finished labour weekend which is the same as labor day weekend at home (excuse for bbq’s and shopping). Here, it celebrates the 8 hour working day movement. Usually that wouldn’t apply to me… the way I get away with 5-7 hours of work a day… but recently I’ve been able to appreciate relaxing at home in the evening and weekends. After I finished my job at Caci, I picked up a job at Wilson parking. They’re the carpark juggernaut down here. At first it was in direct sales marketing and promotion, which is a euphamism for handing out flyers. It was great, lots of fresh air, saying good morning hundreds of times to hundreds of people, exploring downtown, and getting paid for it. But now I’m spending most of my day inside working on a file archiving project. It’s weird working in such a corporate atmosphere… everyone is such a small piece of a puzzle. So this is how it feels. Thank god it’s not my real life! I’m still making the most out, getting heaps of hours, and drinking heaps of free coffee. I’m working nearly 10 hour days, and it’s over a half hour commute to the CBD, so after dinner, relaxing, and going out at night, I’ve been totally neglecting writing posts.

Though I can finally start taking pictures again and be happy about them. My new camera already arrived!!! Woohoo!!! Haven’t had time to play with it yet. But it sure is pretty. Thanks Diana!

I’m one of THOSE guys!!!

Now I spend most of the day in that building.

Working class bothering the business class… It’s fun.

You can use your cell phone to pay the parking meter
here. You can also do a bungy in the middle of the city.
I’m not sure which one is cooler.

Cops can’t carry guns here. Being an American, I can’t seem to grasp that fact.
There’s such a demand for cops, there is a big radio campaign to try to attract
new recruits. “Have better work stories” or something like that is one of the
slogans. Yeah… as I chased the convict down the street, I had to act fast before
another innocent victim was hurt. I reached in my pocket and pulled out my…
oh… wait…

An Auckland City Council Officer marks tires so he can tell if they have
parked too long. These are the guys who observed my traffic infringement.
I actually got a letter for another violation I committed… gotta fight that
one too now. Bitches.

My take on the Kiwiburger. Toasted bread, hamburger,
lettuce, ketchup, mayonnaise, avocado, and egg. Don’t
be a hater, it’s delicious.

  1. Great to know that your camera arrived! That was quick as hell…it gives me a hint of how fast things travel to New Zealand from here. Wasn’t too expensive to send it either. I can’t believe the Red Sox went past game 7…I don’t know what’s worse, the Red Sox winning, or the Indians winning…I hate both of them! And don’t tease me with the food damn it! I’m scrapping my change by eating ramen every night. *chomp chomp* :)

  2. Yeah!! didn’t you just send it last week? And it was only twenty something for postage… I thought it would be at least a hundred. I’ll have to come up with a list of stuff for you to send now :) REDSOX!!!! oh yeah… PATRIOTS!!!!!

  3. Um, it’s not a Kiwiburger, of any sort, unless it has beetroot… :-)

  4. I know!!! My flatmate and I were about to return to Foodtown to get some once I mentioned I wanted to make burgers for dinner. We decided not to, and to save the real Kiwiburger experience for another time. We nicknamed this the Charlesburger. Though a burger without cheese is blasphemous to me.
